idnewsnetwork.com – Holiday together at the end of the year is feared to increase the trend of Covid-19 cases, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also asked for the share leave allowance at the end of the year to be reduced. The request was submitted in a limited meeting of the cabinet, Monday (23/11).
However, it is not yet certain how much the shared leave allowance will be reduced.
“Then related to the issue of holidays, joint leave at the end of the year including a substitute holiday for holiday with Eid al-Fitr, the President gave directions so that there is a reduction,” said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy in a press statement after the limited meeting, as reported by Republika, Monday (23/11).
President Jokowi said Muhadjir, also ordered his party to immediately hold an inter-ministry/agency coordination meeting to discuss the reduction of year-end holidays and replacement holidays with Eid al-Fitr.
Previously, the discourse on the absence of joint leave at the end of the year had been submitted by the Task Force on Handling Covid-19 if the public remained reluctant to carry out health protocols and new cases never hit.
After a long period last October, the graph of daily case additions again climbed in November after a long ramp since mid-October. The existence of a long holiday at the end of the year is feared to worsen the risk of Covid-19 transmission that never ends.
Previously, the government set the Christmas holiday on December 24-25. Then there is the joint leave at the end of December 28-31 instead of the last Eid holiday. The holiday is still plus a red date on January 1, 2021, which falls on Friday.
