Mangkokku, The President’s Son Business Was Injected USD 2 Million

Mangkokku – The culinary business of Mangkokku, which is fronted by two sons of President Jokowi. Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Kaesang Pangarep, received funding of USD 2 million. The fund is an investment in venture capital firm Alpha JWC Ventures.

Gibran cooperates with Indonesian Master Chef judge, Arnold Poernomo. Also with entrepreneur Randy Kartadinata in running Mangkokku.


“This is a gift for Kaesang, before I delegate all responsibility to him,” said Gibran.

Gibran admits that these are his last days before he is 100 percent involved in politics. He said that the funding given by the Alpha JWC Ventures venture was a gift for Kaesang and his business partners.

This candidate for Mayor of Solo hopes that Mangkokku, can skyrocket next year. Cooperation with colleagues provided a little respite so that he could focus on politics.

Gibran said, Kaesang was in charge of Mangkokku operations. “I just monitor, control remotely,” said husband of Selvi Ananda.

According to him, the Mangkokku business will be managed by Kaesang and some of his four colleagues. Gibran hopes that Kaesang as a young person can move other young people to have an entrepreneurial spirit.

“There are so many opportunities in the midst of a pandemic like this,” he said.

He gave an example that in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, he added many branches and got investment. According to him, the Covid-19 pandemic should not be seen from the bad. But an opportunity to innovate and adapt. Tips that can be done include implementing a cloud kitchen, moving e-commerce, moving the marketplace.

“All of us are boosted, even though eating in places is prohibited because of the PSBB. We can increase on the delivery side. Don’t see as an obstacle, we see as an opportunity,” he said.

“Hopefully in the future we could open branches throughout Indonesia and open more jobs. We have 22 branches,” he said.
